Intro to the Owners - Part 2

Before I properly introduce myself I can tell you one thing for sure, I never thought I would ever be writing a blog… especially about myself! My name is Lee Vandenbrink, proudly born here in West Michigan. I, somehow, graduated Coopersville High School in 2007. I’ll leave out the whole part about being state runner ups in Football. I was blessed to be raised by an incredibly hard working, loving family. I did not know it at the time but, was truly blessed to be raised by parents who “let me, be me”. Only two major rules in the house: be home for dinner and make church every Sunday. Both life lessons I fought then, but now see how valuable they really were.

Let me touch back on high school one more time because of how I feel it has lead me to be where I am today. Now I will be the first person to admit, I was an ass hole of a student. Maybe one of the worst. If a former teacher and/or classmate ever reads this I owe you an apology for the way I acted. Now let’s get back on track. Coming into my senior year of high school just barely slipping by, I always got asked the infamous question by teachers and staff “What are you going to do after high school with your life?” For most high schoolers that was a tough answer, but for me it could not have been any more clear. “Well, I am going to hunt for a living.” “Well now Lee, YOU CANT DO THAT” … most of the time followed demoralizing laugh. Fast forward a few years down the road and I have successfully based my entire career off of hunting and spending time in the outdoors.

What’s the point of that little story of mine? It has nothing to do with gloating , or saying my job is better than yours. It has everything to do with why I am a part of Freedom’s Finest Foods. When Teddy approached me and was telling me about this company that he had been working to create I thought, “Cool, seems pretty sweet” , but when he told me the values of the company and what this company stands for.. Freedom, Gratitude , Passion and more. I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of, and needed to help spread the message of "We are living in a country that anything is possible. No matter who tells you no, or who tells you that you can’t do that, YOU CAN. You can be literally anything you chose to be! “Hard work, a kind heart, a little Gratitude and there are no boundaries of what you can achieve. I’ve been blessed to travel all over this world and if you ever listen to anything I say, listen to this: We are blessed and so very fortunate to live in The United States of America! Now go chase your dream!
